Description

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing well until blended.
  4. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon in another bowl.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk until just mixed.
  6. Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly.
  7. Mix together brown sugar, cinnamon, and nuts for the topping and sprinkle half over the batter.
  8. Pour the remaining batter on top and finish with the rest of the crumb topping.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  10. Let the cake cool slightly before cutting and serving warm.

Notes

You can prepare the batter the night before and refrigerate it for fresh baking in the morning.
