Description
A cozy twist on a classic comfort food, these Sloppy Joes are enriched with caramelized onions and melted Swiss cheese.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 2 large onions, sliced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 hoagie rolls
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté until they become beautifully caramelized, about 10-12 minutes.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet. Break it apart and cook until browned, draining any excess fat.
- Stir in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, seasoning with salt and pepper. Let simmer for 5-10 minutes.
- Toast the hoagie rolls lightly if desired, then scoop the beef mixture onto each roll.
- Top each Sloppy Joe with a slice of Swiss cheese and let it melt.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
Notes
Make ahead and freeze leftovers for a quick meal. Substitute ground beef with turkey or chicken if desired.
