Description

A creamy and savory rice dish that absorbs the rich flavors of French onion soup and beef broth, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup long grain white rice (uncooked)
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) French onion soup (condensed)
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) beef broth (or water with beef bouillon)
  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, sliced into pats
  • 1 small yellow onion, finely chopped (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional garnish: chopped parsley or shredded cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease your baking dish.
  2. In the baking dish, combine the rice, French onion soup, beef broth, and chopped onions (if using). Stir well.
  3. Place the butter slices evenly across the top of the rice mixture.
  4. Cover the dish tightly with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  5. After 30 minutes, remove the foil and bake uncovered for another 20–25 minutes, until the liquid is absorbed and the top is golden.
  6. Let it sit for a few minutes, fluff gently with a fork, and garnish as desired before serving.
