Description

Buttery, melt-in-your-mouth French Salted Butter Cookies with a perfect sweet and salty balance.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Flaky sea salt for sprinkling, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together the softened unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 3-4 minutes).
  3. Add the vanilla extract and mix until incorporated.
  4. Gradually add the sifted flour and salt to the butter mixture, stirring until just combined.
  5. Using a small cookie scoop or two spoons, drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  6. Sprinkle flaky sea salt over each cookie.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  8. Let cool for a few minutes before transferring the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Make-ahead by refrigerating dough for up to 3 days. Can substitute coconut oil for a dairy-free version.
