Description

A refreshing and creamy homemade mint chocolate chip ice cream made with just 7 ingredients.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • A few drops of green food coloring (optional)
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnishing (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine the heavy cream, whole milk, and granulated sugar in a large mixing bowl. Whisk together until the sugar has fully dissolved and the mixture appears creamy and smooth.
  2. Add in the peppermint extract and a few drops of green food coloring, if desired. Give it another gentle whisk to mix everything together.
  3. Pour the mixture into your ice cream machine. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for churning, which usually takes about 20–25 minutes until the ice cream reaches a soft-serve consistency.
  4. Sprinkle in the mini chocolate chips during the last few minutes of churning, giving them time to distribute evenly.
  5. Transfer the churned ice cream to an airtight container and smooth the top with a spatula. Freeze for at least 4 hours, or until it reaches your desired firmness.
  6. Scoop the mint chocolate chip ice cream into bowls, add a sprinkle of fresh mint leaves if desired, and enjoy!

Notes

Can be made ahead of time and stored in an airtight container. For a lighter version, substitute half of the heavy cream with coconut milk.
