Description
A refreshing and creamy homemade mint chocolate chip ice cream made with just 7 ingredients.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
- A few drops of green food coloring (optional)
- 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
- Fresh mint leaves for garnishing (optional)
Instructions
- Combine the heavy cream, whole milk, and granulated sugar in a large mixing bowl. Whisk together until the sugar has fully dissolved and the mixture appears creamy and smooth.
- Add in the peppermint extract and a few drops of green food coloring, if desired. Give it another gentle whisk to mix everything together.
- Pour the mixture into your ice cream machine. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for churning, which usually takes about 20–25 minutes until the ice cream reaches a soft-serve consistency.
- Sprinkle in the mini chocolate chips during the last few minutes of churning, giving them time to distribute evenly.
- Transfer the churned ice cream to an airtight container and smooth the top with a spatula. Freeze for at least 4 hours, or until it reaches your desired firmness.
- Scoop the mint chocolate chip ice cream into bowls, add a sprinkle of fresh mint leaves if desired, and enjoy!
Notes
Can be made ahead of time and stored in an airtight container. For a lighter version, substitute half of the heavy cream with coconut milk.
