Description

A cozy treat combining flaky croissant dough with a sweet cinnamon sugar coating and optional fillings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package of croissant dough
  • 1 cup cinnamon sugar (1/2 cup sugar + 1 tablespoon cinnamon)
  • Oil for frying or melted butter for baking
  • Optional filling (e.g., chocolate, dulce de leche)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) if baking. If frying, heat oil in a deep pan until shimmering.
  2. Roll out the croissant dough on a clean surface and cut into triangles.
  3. Add your desired filling at the wide end of each triangle and roll tightly to encase it.
  4. Shape the rolled dough into muffin-like forms or twist for a playful look.
  5. For fried cruffins, carefully place them in hot oil and fry until golden brown. For baked cruffins, brush tops with melted butter and bake until puffy and golden.
  6. Roll cooked cruffins in cinnamon sugar while still hot.
  7. Let cool slightly and serve warm with extra cinnamon sugar on top.

Notes

Make-Ahead Magic: Prepare the dough and fillings the night before for an easy breakfast. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to two days.
