Description
A warm, comforting dish featuring crispy fried chicken coated in a sweet-savory sesame glaze, perfect for busy weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 tbsp sesame oil
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
- Green onions for garnish
Instructions
- Mix together the cornstarch, flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl. In another bowl, whisk the egg and water together. Dip the chicken pieces in the egg mixture, then coat them in the flour mixture.
- Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Fry the chicken pieces until they are golden and crispy, about 5–6 minutes, turning halfway through for even cooking.
- Heat the sesame oil, soy sauce, honey, and rice vinegar in a separate saucepan over low heat to create a fragrant sesame sauce.
- Toss the fried chicken in the sauce until it’s evenly coated.
- Garnish with toasted sesame seeds and chopped green onions before serving.
Notes
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven to maintain crispiness.
