Description

Ingredients

  • 23 large onions, sliced
  • 4 slices provolone cheese
  • 4 slices gruyere cheese
  • 4 burger buns
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp butter, for caramelizing onions
  • Beef broth, for drizzling
  • Thyme, fresh or dried

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions and cook until caramelized, about 20-30 minutes.
  2. Season ground beef with salt and pepper, then form into patties with a small indentation in the center.
  3. Grill or cook patties until desired doneness, preferably medium-rare.
  4. Top each patty with caramelized onions and a slice of provolone and gruyere cheese to allow the cheese to melt.
  5. Toast burger buns until golden brown, then assemble with the patty topped with onions and cheese, drizzle with beef broth, and sprinkle with thyme.
