Description

A hearty family favorite featuring tender cabbage leaves filled with a savory mixture and bathed in a rich tomato sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large head of cabbage
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) tomato soup
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 egg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully remove the core from the cabbage and blanch the leaves until tender.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, cooked rice, chopped onion, egg, salt, and pepper.
  3. Take a cabbage leaf and place a spoonful of the meat mixture at the base. Roll the leaf tightly around the filling, tucking in the sides.
  4. Repeat with remaining leaves and filling.
  5. In a saucepan, mix together tomato soup, tomato sauce, brown sugar, and lemon juice. Stir until well combined.
  6. Place cabbage rolls seam side down in a baking dish and pour the tomato sauce mixture over them.
  7. Cover with aluminum foil and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 60 minutes.
  8. Serve hot, and enjoy the comforting embrace of this warm dish!
